Name: Lucy Frowijn
I grew up in Ede, a small town in the middle of the Netherlands, completed my bilingual atheneum and international baccalaureate English at the age of 18 and moved to Groningen immediately after. There, I followed the Media Studies BA programme, took a minor in journalism, and completed the BA Honours College track of the faculty of arts at the University of Groningen. I wrote a BA thesis titled ‘feminist in leotards’, focused on the negotiation of feminist values in the (media) self-representation of Beyoncé. I was an intern at Dutch media company LINDA. for six months and then decided to go back to Groningen for a master in Journalism. Journalism, to me, is about telling stories and proving to people that there is a lot of information out there that might be of interest to them, even if they don’t know about it yet.
